Established in July of 2003, Qinghai Alkali Industry Co., Ltd. is a large-scale private chemical enterprise in Delingha, Haixi, Qinghai, mainly invested by Zhejiang Glass Co., Ltd. Qinghai Alkali Industry owns the registered capital 390 million yuan.
Our company produces and sells heavyweight soda ash and its byproduct, mainly applied to industries including glass, daily chemistry, chemical industry, enamel, papermaking, medicine, textile, print and dye, and hide processing. The soda ash, as a main raw material for the flat glass, accounts for 25% in the production cost of flat glass.
At the beginning of 2003, in order to minimize the manufacturing cost of flat glass and to raise the market competitiveness, Zhejiang Glass Co., Ltd. invested a sum of 1.6 billion yuan to build the first-stage project producing 900,000 tons of soda ash per year. This project is located in the Northeast of Caidamu Basin of Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, about 387 km from Geermu in the north, about 514 km from Xi'ning in the west, and close to the Qinghai-Tibet railway and Qinghai-Tibet Highway. It¨s encircled by Kunlun Mountain, Qilian Mountain, Aerjin Mountain (three major mountain systems) and located in Delingha Industrial Park, covering an area of 1,170,000 square meters. This project started construction in August of 2003 and the trial operation was taken by the end of June of 2005. The project is estimated to be one of soda ash production lines in the shortest time limit for a project and the largest one way in the world, and is also the largest private chemical enterprise in Qinghai Province at present.
After the first-stage project is built up, our company not only annually pays tax of several ten million yuan and also solves the local employment problem of nearly 10,000 people through employing workers directly and creating positions in mining, packaging, transport, food and beverage, and amusement. This will change local economic pattern and the masses' economic situation to a certain extent.
At present, our company is engaged in full preparation of second-stage project for soda ash and is estimated to finish before 2008. After the second-stage project is built up, the scale of output will rank the second of the same trade.
